Theme for the day-- BUGS!

Theme for the day is Bugs-- not this bug

Or this bug-- not that I don't mind either of the two!

This bug was seen on the way to school bus just hanging out on the fence.  This photo taken by Gavin before the bus arrived.

The other were taken by me after we make the bug (I believe a praying mantis) move a little after touching his legs!

So my bug starts cross counry today, practices tonight and friday night after school and then has a meet on the 4th.  So we shall see-- he wanted to take percussion in band but realized that band would interrupt his science class and couldn't have that!  At least he has priorities!  We attended our first Weblo pack meeting and he met his den leader and had fun playing games while Mom got to do all the work.
This weekend is the Colorado Springs Balloon Classic and I hope to attend Sunday night glow and then the launch Monday am before work.  We will have visitors this weekend as Rob's mom and uncle visit us.  Busy last weekend of summer for us!

Pre-September

So the last week of August and the bench is still standing and people can even sit on it without it falling apart!  Yeah for me!  I wish I had not been so tired the other am when I came home from working the night shift and found my neighbor sitting in my lacking flower garden in her bathrobe!  Too cute!

So this week I am work on getting the house cleaned up for the fall and for the mother-in-law's visit and decided after all the aches and pains I had putting the bench together-- muscles not recently used were screaming at me, I am working on a 12 week weight loss/exercise program.  Started Day one today and oh my!

So we will see how week one progress and hopefully in 12 weeks SUCCESS!!
Wish me luck!

August 20- 22

First day of 4th grade-- Aug 20, 2012. Beautiful am.

Gavin heading out the door-- not wanting to go,  "I wish there were 3 more years of summer".
Aug 21 sunrise and bug's shadow on the kitchen wall.
Alright-- finally getting the bench for the front flower garden.  So here I go attempting to be crafty!

Sadly-- bench looks crooked but I didn't have to cut anything and it did hold my weight twice without falling apart!
Let's see if my neighbor notices tonight-- got to get the mum's planted so I can have some color, since the hale had destroyed everything and I have a few small green plants coming back.

Turtle Burgers

Turtle Burgers

I made these for the 4th of July and wow! That is about all I can say-- more meat products than a person could shake a stick at and as they say everything is better with bacon.

First made bacon weave and then hamburgers with cheese in the middle and wrapped the bacon around the burger and use hotdogs to make turtle head, legs and tail. Attached them with soaked toothpicks and baked them in the oven and could have gone smaller but had rave reviews for the turtles!

Story of my life

Seem to be a day late and almost always a dollar short!  Can not truly believe it is the first of August already.  School starts in 19 days, Gavin is no where near ready-- mom may be- but he isn't.  He went to Trappers camp in Montana with his uncle and grandfather and had a great time, then spent time with his grandparents in Augusta.  Misty and her family came out and a quick trip to Montana, North Dakota and back again was in the works!.  So now we are playing re-arrange the dressing room as when it rained really hard it flooded and so I moved everything into the family room and pulled up rugs and stuff and now am trying to figure out a floor and place to put things.  Brought home a sewing machine from Montana but I never took home-ec so have these plans for sewing!  HA!  Good luck on that one! Swear there is a dead mouse in the kitchen-- there is a smell that I can't trace/track.  I have cleaned behind the fridge, washed out the fridge, cleaned out pantry and still can't find it-- threw out a broken sent of shelves from Grandma and now have lost a bunch of shelves-- am having to re-arrange the kitchen!
There was a huge fire that impacted Colorado Springs and so I am donating stuff to them, have piles and need to get them dispensed.  Would love to can but-- know how the family is when it comes to eatng fruit-- can't get them too.  Soooooo will have to see if I can still post picts and add some!
