Finished!

Finally after probably 5 years I have completed the haunted house and taken on a new challenge!

So with this completed a friend of mine and I went shopping for a weath.  So last night I cut the strips and have finished 1/6 of the knots!  I thought stitching cramped my hands-- so wrong!

Sassy Sanctuary has very cool Halloween Rag wreath.  Wish me luck!

First Weekend of Fall 2012

So the first weekend of fall in 2012-- I had off!!!  Yeah!  I pulled some days during the week and had a weekend off (first off --not counting vacations) in a long time.
So Saturday Gavin and I went to a cemetery crawl to learn about history of Colorado City-- pretty cool-- ignore the strange arrangements of picts and they don't jive or mash with the weekend.  Sunday the family drove up to Woodland Park for Octoberfest.  Beautiful weekend, great beer.

An orchid that I got from friends at work that hasn't bloomed since my surgery decided to bloom one of two buds.

Sept 2012

So we have had 2 cross country track meets, my birthday celebrated at work and at PF Changs, snow on Pikes Peak and a fun science experiment with a limited amount of interest.  Sadly rocket launching got more excitement.

Cool science attempt taken from http://www.se7en.org.za/.  Cool idea for bubbling brew and enough to get the little one away from computer for part of a afternoon.  She has great and fun looking ideas, I can't wait to try.
Cross country meet- Madison school group

Almost to the finish line!  Go Gavin!

Cool brew picts

As for me, I just finished reading Cindi Myers book "The Woman who loved Jesse James".  What a interesting book written about Zee, the daughter of a  Missouri minister who fell in love with Jesse James and their life together.  I fell spellbound by the cover and the book did not disappoint as every girl has it bad for a bad boy once in their life it hooked me and I enjoyed every page.  Read it if you get a chance.  I promise it won't disappoint!
I love the quote on the bottom of page 10 -- check it out!

Theme for the day-- BUGS!

Theme for the day is Bugs-- not this bug

Or this bug-- not that I don't mind either of the two!

This bug was seen on the way to school bus just hanging out on the fence.  This photo taken by Gavin before the bus arrived.

The other were taken by me after we make the bug (I believe a praying mantis) move a little after touching his legs!

So my bug starts cross counry today, practices tonight and friday night after school and then has a meet on the 4th.  So we shall see-- he wanted to take percussion in band but realized that band would interrupt his science class and couldn't have that!  At least he has priorities!  We attended our first Weblo pack meeting and he met his den leader and had fun playing games while Mom got to do all the work.
This weekend is the Colorado Springs Balloon Classic and I hope to attend Sunday night glow and then the launch Monday am before work.  We will have visitors this weekend as Rob's mom and uncle visit us.  Busy last weekend of summer for us!

Pre-September

So the last week of August and the bench is still standing and people can even sit on it without it falling apart!  Yeah for me!  I wish I had not been so tired the other am when I came home from working the night shift and found my neighbor sitting in my lacking flower garden in her bathrobe!  Too cute!

So this week I am work on getting the house cleaned up for the fall and for the mother-in-law's visit and decided after all the aches and pains I had putting the bench together-- muscles not recently used were screaming at me, I am working on a 12 week weight loss/exercise program.  Started Day one today and oh my!

So we will see how week one progress and hopefully in 12 weeks SUCCESS!!
Wish me luck!

August 20- 22

First day of 4th grade-- Aug 20, 2012. Beautiful am.

Gavin heading out the door-- not wanting to go,  "I wish there were 3 more years of summer".
Aug 21 sunrise and bug's shadow on the kitchen wall.
Alright-- finally getting the bench for the front flower garden.  So here I go attempting to be crafty!

Sadly-- bench looks crooked but I didn't have to cut anything and it did hold my weight twice without falling apart!
Let's see if my neighbor notices tonight-- got to get the mum's planted so I can have some color, since the hale had destroyed everything and I have a few small green plants coming back.

Turtle Burgers

Turtle Burgers

I made these for the 4th of July and wow! That is about all I can say-- more meat products than a person could shake a stick at and as they say everything is better with bacon.

First made bacon weave and then hamburgers with cheese in the middle and wrapped the bacon around the burger and use hotdogs to make turtle head, legs and tail. Attached them with soaked toothpicks and baked them in the oven and could have gone smaller but had rave reviews for the turtles!
