Pumpkin Pride

Pumpkin carving is a big deal in our house. So this year-- we decided to carve a few hopefully indestructable ones. So I left that to Rob and Gavin to take care of.

So we have on top a scary clown, a regular pumpkin face (left), trick or treating monster (center) and two faced mask to the right.

So here is Gavin's pumpkin that he picked from his day at the pumpkin patch.

His pumpkin has a lot to be desired so he got a little sick!!!!

My pumpkin ( real one)-- Gavin pick the pattern to go with out family costumes.

Hope you enjoy our carvings!

Boo at the Zoo Adventure

The ARRRRRGGGGHHHH Stierstorfer Pirate Family

We ventured out as a pirate family to attend "Boo at the Zoo"!
Along the way our wee one lost part of his mustache/beard but.....

We saw...and yes that is a sucker stick and not anything else!

male lion roaring

Hippo skull on display with Gavin moving in background.
Gavin visited a haunted house and got to feel brains, eyes, and teeth. Only one monster that jumped out and grabbed him -- spooked him and there was a monster who offered him candy to let him out and Gavin actually reconsidered letting him out for candy.

Haunted Graveyard

Rob and Gavin rode the skyride and took some pictures of city lights and display at the top.

Last but not least the Star Wars figures:

Weekend Fun

Gavin and Jimmy (Gavin and his first attempt at volley ball.
Today we are planning on attending a party at a friends house and then after Rob gets off work we are going as a pirate family to "Boo at the Zoo". Hopefully it will not be too cold and we rake in the booty! Will post pictures later.
Check it out; http://www.cmzoo.org/guestInformation/events/booAtTheZoo.asp

So Gavin was attempting to play volleyball and took a ball to the face-- what a actor! But for his first attempt not too shabby if I should brag. Watch for more about Boo at the Zoo!

Start of yard decorations

Dracula hanging out in the front yard
We attached more of our decorations to the house as in the years past when we hung stuff outside(ghosts in the trees), we have had our decorations taken and never returned. So we will see about this year!

Just waiting for help with the tombstones-- so we have a few scarecrows, sign and spiderwebs and a few floating ghouls from the roof. Lighted spiderweb on the window and can barely see the skeleton on the top picture hanging from the house. Didn't want to loose him! Enjoy one and all!

The weekend!

Let's see the weather has been turning colder-- no snow but colder. I was lucky to enjoy a call off on Saturday-- but spent my day sleeping in prep for potential work that night. So we did movie night and watched "National Treasure 2". Was pretty interesting and then Sunday we went to the mall and wandered a bit and then headed to a friends house for a party. As long as the sun was out it was nice but the sky clouded over and it got cold, so Gavin and I came home early and watched "Zohan" movie and started on my copy of "Sleeping Beauty". He wasn't interested in it because it was a "girl movie" and "mom your not a girl your a mom". So I think he did enjoy what little he did get to see before he headed to bed. I have to say that I have been enjoying "Atonement" on TV and cry every single time. Doesn't matter how many times I have seen it I still get weepy! But I love it!!!!
So need to finish laundry today and get some Halloween decorations out in the yard and our neighbors are starting to decorate and Gavin is getting the itch to put out our tombstones and body parts! Will post pictures as we decorate. Have a great week everyone!

The Zoo part 3

Gavin hatching from an owl egg.

Gavin trying to get away from the big spider who owns this web!
Oh No!!! Gavin has been eaten by a snake!!! Get out Gavin, Get out!
First decorations for Boo at the Zoo!!!!
Gavin and one of his favorite colors, more Boo at the Zoo lights!

The Zoo part 2

Mountain Lion-- they were unusually active as we were there, pacing back and forth on both sides of their enclosure.
In action
Lynx just chillin', his cohort was pacing back and forth, following Gavin who thought it was imensely funny that he had the cat's attention.
The bear was very active also-- batting at the window where there was a man there. He would splash the water and even looked like he was trying to peel away the wood to get to the man inside.

Just prior to causing a complete water storm!

The Zoo part 1

Since the weather has been getting cooler, but still nice. Gavin and I went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo as an after school treat! We didn't get to stay long as Gavin gets out of school at 2:30 and the zoo being on fall hours closes at 4:00 pm. But we had a great time and saw lots of neat animals out enjoying the afternoon. Gavin took pictures and had me take some on my camera so we could post quicker. So enjoy our trip to the zoo.........

feeding the giraffes

What beautiful eyes!

In Loving memory of our "Big Guy". Gavin remembers being able to walk up the the cage and "Big Guy would come over and eat crackers out of his hands even when other people were trying to feed him. He will be missed by us!
